A roof rack can be a great investment for the avid outdoorsman or anyone who needs to be able to carry bikes, ski's, snowboards, luggage, canoes, kayaks, cargo, or any utility equipment on their roof with an aftermarket rack. It's important to consider that many cargo roof carriers contact with the surface of your vehicles paint when carrying this equipment. These types of roof / bike racks can mount on the roof, trunk, or rear bumper. As these racks shift or vibrate while moving, they will scuff and scratch your paint. Damaging the paint protective barrier and potentially allowing the metal to rust.

Our Rack Guard is strong and invisible protective film that is placed on the paint of the roof, trunk, or rear bumper of the vehicle. It is a protective barrier between the rack mount base and the actual paint.
This is a great, cost effective investment for those who would like to keep their paint looking nice. This Rack Guard Kit comes with (4) 4" x 8" sheets of our 8 mil invisible film.

Got protection?

Product does what it says, protected my roof from unwanted scratches. Only thing that can be added to the kit is a practice sheet as my first few tries didn't come out the way it should, takes practice to get it right.

Exactly what it says on the tin

I would definitely recommend not waiting until the last minute to install these - it’s difficult to apply properly with frigid fingers and cold film. Also, test fit your roof rack first and use painter’s tape to mark where the feet will be interacting with your paint. That will give you an excellent visual guide on where to apply the film, because you obviously can’t do that with the roof rack on the car.

Where did it go?

A few days after the installation of the Rack Protector I really have to look closely to see it. It's pretty amazing. Following the very simple YouTube instructions the application of the product was very easy. The material adhered to the shape of the roof lines of my Golf R very well. I will admit that I was skeptical at first. This product is excellent. Highly recommend this Lamin-X product.
